Backup Your IE Favorites folder is an essential work, it saves website urls that your frequently used, please try following steps to backup:

  • 1. Start the IE browser, first to click the "Favorites" button to start the Favorites screen, and click "Add to Favorites"(1) button in the drop-down menu, then select and click the "Import and Export"(2) command.

  • 2. On the open "Import/Export Settings" dialog box, select "Export to a file" menu option, and then click the "Next" button at the bottom of the dialog box.

  • 3. On the open "What would you like to export?" dialog box, select the "Favorites" option and still click the "Next" button.

  • 4. You will open the "Select the folder that you want to export your favorites from" dialog box, the default selects all Favorites, and you can only select one folder which you need to be saved, then click the "Next" button.

  • 5. You will go to the "Where do you want to export your favorites?" dialog box, click the "Browse" button and choose the location where you want to back up, you'd better choose the D drive or U-disk drive, and click the "Export" button to export IE Favorites, the default saved file is the "bookmark.htm".

When you reinstalled your Windows Operating System, you can use the just saved bookmark.htm file to import(Restore) the Favorites. So do not forget to save your favorites before reinstalling the system, or you will be regret it.
