    For WinXP Backup :

    > Click "start"
    > Run
    > Type: "regedit" or "regedt32"
    > Click Continue
    > Press "Alt + F", Do not release the "Alt" Key, release the "F" Key, then press "E" Key
    > Choose the location you want to backup, plus the name of the file you want
    > Click "Save" - Waiting for registry backup to complete.

  • Method 2: Use a professional registry tool to backup windows registry

    To backup the registry with registry backup software is simple and safe, take PC Health Advisor registry software as an example to describe how to backup your registry. Steps below:

    1. You need to download and install PC Health Advisor.

    2. When you open the registry tool, click the "Disk" to the interface. See the following picture:

    3. In the tool "Disk interface", click the "Restore Point Manager",

    Then click the "Create Restore Point"(in the lower left corner), wait for it to complete and you will see the following picture:

    4. If anything goes wrong in the future you can restore your settings to how they were on the date and time the restore point was created. For example: if you choose the "Date and Time for 2011/08/26 15:18:13", and click the "Restore" button(in the lower right corner), you will restore the settings to that point in time. You can also remove old restore points by selecting them and clicking "Remove" button.
