Disconnect the Power after Computer Shutdown

Do You Know Why?

In the past period of time, I wrote an article about how to avoid computer BSOD, please visit it if you need. Here I will tell you why you should disconnect the power after closing your pc. It is a good habit of using your computer, don't forget it:

  • Why do this?

Many pc users just simply shut down their computer after using it, and do not remember to disconnect the computer's power supply completely(not pull out the power plug or turn off the power outlet switch), sometimes the monitor, audio and other peripherals are still working. This is a bad habit of using your pc, it may damage your computer hardwares, although the probability is very small. If you haven't disconnected the power completely, the motherboard will still connect with the external power supply, and if the voltage is unstable or suffered a lightning storm weather, it will be easy to damage the motherboard, battery and a variety of peripherals of your pc. In order to protect your computer, you must disconnect the power supply completely after you close computer. That is important!

  • What is the right way to close your pc?

If you are using the laptop, you should close all the application programs, and then shut down. My laptop went to a blue screen when I closed it, because I hadn't closed the game program. If you are using the desktop computer, you also should close all the application programs first, and then close the mainframe-box > then close the peripheral. Reason: If the mainframe-box is powered, that will have a strong impact of current on it when you close the peripheral.

You also should note other aspects when you shutdown your pc:

    1) Do not start/shut down your pc frequently: This will damage the hard disk. If you really need to start, please keep at least 10 minutes interval between last shutdown and the next boot.

    2) Do not shut down when it working: If you shut down your computer suddenly when it is reading/writing data, it may be easy to lose files data or damage the drive(hard disk, floppy...).

    3) As little as possible to move your desktop computer, because the excessive vibration may damage the hard drives, motherboards and other parts of your computer.

    4) At last, please don't forget to pull out the power plug.

That is what I can think about when you shutdown the computer, if you do this, it not only protects your computer, but also can save electricity :)
