"Error 80004005: Service is temporarily not available."

This feature is not available in some markets.

Cause: This error occurs when you sign in to Windows Live Call and may be the result of an improperly connected audio device.

Fix: To confirm that your audio device is connected properly:

1> In the Windows Live Call window, click Tools, and then click Audio Tuning.

2> Follow the instructions in the wizard.

3> Wait a few minutes, and then try your call again.

Second Error Messge


"Error 80004005: Unable to sign in to Windows Live Messenger."

If you're receiving this error, first verify that you have version 8.0.792 or later of Windows Live Messenger. You can download the latest version at the Windows Live Messenger website.

Fix: If you continue to receive this error after verifying that you have the latest version of Messenger, try the following to resolve the issue:
  1. Verify your Folder Options settings:

    For Windows XP

    1> On the taskbar, right-click Start, and then select Explore.

    2> On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.

    3> Click the View tab.

    4> In the Advanced Settings list, select Show hidden files and folders, make sure Hide extensions for known file types is not selected, and then click OK.

    5> In the Windows Explorer window, click View, select Explorer Bar, and then verify that Folders is checked.


    For Windows Vista

    1> On the taskbar, right-click Start, and then select Explore.

    2> Click Organize, and then click Folder and Search Options.

    3> Click the View tab.

    4> In the Advanced Settings list, select Show hidden files and folders, make sure Hide extensions for known file types is not selected, and then click OK.

    5> Click Organize.

    6> Under the Layout menu, verify that Navigation Pane is selected.

     
  2. Then delete your Contacts cache folder:

    For Windows XP

    1> On the taskbar, right-click Start, and then select Explore.

    2> Navigate to the folder C:\Documents and Settings\Your Windows logon name\Contacts\Your Messenger e-mail address.

    3> Delete all of the files in the folder.

    4> Navigate to the folder C:\Documents and Settings\Your Windows logon name\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts\Your Messenger e-mail address.

    5> Delete all of the folders and hidden folders in the Your Messenger e-mail address folder.

    6> Close Windows Explorer and try to sign in to Messenger again.

    For Windows Vista

    1> On the taskbar, right-click Start, and then select Explore.

    2> Navigate to the folder C:\Users\Your Windows logon name\Contacts\Your Messenger e-mail address.

    3> Delete all of the files in the folder.

    4> Navigate to the folder C:\Users\Your Windows logon name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts\Your Messenger e-mail address.

    5>Delete all of the folders and hidden folders in the Your Messenger e-mail address folder.

    6> Close Windows Explorer and try to sign in to Messenger again.

Important
Be careful not to delete your entire Contacts folder. Doing so will delete all of your contacts. For more information about backing up your contacts, see your e-mail program's Help documentation.
