  • When you start your Windows Vista computer, you may get the a message box below:

"Qttask.exe - There is no disk in the drive"

  • How to fix?

Qttask.exe is a startup component for Apple Quick Time.

To prevent the Qttask.exe utility from loading on startup, I would suggest you to clear the check box Qttask.exe from the startup tab in system configuration utility.

Method 1: To prevent the Qttask.exe utility from loading on startup

    1. Click on Start; in the start search type msconfig and press Enter.

    2. If you get consent prompt, choose yes.

    3. Click on the "Startup" tab.

    4. Clear the check box "Qttask"

    5. Save the changes by clicking on Ok and restart the computer.

Check if you see the pop-up.

Click here to learn "How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7"

    Method 2: Rename Qttask.exe to Qttask.old

At times, there are allegations that the program is capable of secretly undoing changes and re-enabling itself to load as instructed. In this situation, you may need to take a few extra steps.

    1. Click on Start and search for Qttask.exe by putting it in start search box.

    2. Once you find the location of the Qttask.exe, rename it to Qttask.old

Restart the computer and check if you receive the pop-up.

    Method 3: Uninstall the webcam

If you want to uninstall the webcam completely from your computer, then follow the steps mentioned below.

    1. Click Start; in the start search type devmgmt.msc and hit Enter.

    2. Click the "+" symbol next to "Imaging devices." The webcam's brand name will be listed under the "Imaging devices" heading.

    3. Right-click on the webcam name. Select "Uninstall." Click "OK" when prompted with a warning about deleting the device

    4. Unplug the webcam from the computer, if it is an external webcam, by removing its USB cable from the port on the computer.

    5. Click "Start," then "Turn Off Computer," then "Restart" to restart the computer
