Visual Studio 2008 error Vista upgrade to Win7

Back to Top

I upgrade my computer from Windows Vista to Windows 7 at the weekend, because i do not want to re-install drivers, vs, sql and some other software and choose to upgrade, upgrade of time is still tolerable in fact. During the upgrade process, Windows 7 self-test some of their programs are not compatible, such as the Thinkpad comes with a few programs, iTunes, most don't want to see is the Sql Server 2008 mong them. Anyway, first to upgrade, after the upgrade finished then find the solution method.

After a night of agonizing (computer opened, i am sleep), looked up the computer in the morning, after some simple system configuration look into the system interface, and not bad, no other errors, this time i am trying all the software, Office, Sql Server 2008, Chrome, SaaYaa, Firefox, Fireworks, and so on, there is no problem, and i am very happy. But when I open the VS2008, when the following error pops up, see below:

visual Studio 2008 error code
"The Application Data folder for Visual Studio could be created"

I estimate that this error occurs because the upgrade when the lack of hard disk space I deleted a number of C files inside the Program Data, because the smaller partition of my hard drive does, 40G partition actually is not enough to use. I find a solution on the google search results, only need the command line and type a word, need to be administrator to enter command-line program, execute the following:

Run "% programfiles% Microsoft Visual Studio 8Common7IDEdevenv.exe" / setup

After you do on the above, this problem will be solved.

The purpose of writing this article is actually two:

1, Vista Ultimate version can be upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate;

2, When you after the upgrade, Visual Studio no Application Data Folder can not be opened, you can use the above method to solve the computer problems.
