The Windows 7 has become a very
popular operating system by Now, and the computer speed has been our
greatest concern for pc users. If you rarely do the optimization of
windows 7 after it was running for a long time, the speed of your
win 7 will be very slow. Here we will give several help tips to
increase windows 7 speed and make it faster. Check them below and we
hope you can share this page to your friends if they need like you,
thanks.
Everyone wants to optimize their
computer running at optimal condition, such as: how to
make windows 7 boot time faster; how to speed up windows 7
shutdown... But here we just show our own experience of ways that
how to optimize and then improve your win7 computer's performance.
You can choose which one is suitable to your windows 7 system, check
them following:
- 1. Upgrade your
memory(RAM): The Windows 7/Vista system needs more memory than
Windows xp because of the
SuperFetch(from Vista). You can upgrade or add new memory to
boost your system performance. If you are using the 32-bit
system, 3GB of memory is sufficient, and 4GB of memory is enough
for the 64-bit system. But you'd better have more than 4gb of
memory if you are using the CAD or other video editing
softwares. Note: Only do this will not improve your
overall system performance, because your computer must keep up
with other hardware devices, such as: CPU and graphics card.
- 2. Arrange C drive and
other drives: This point is very important. You should not
install all the applications and files on your system drive(the
default would be drive C). We recommend you retain at least 50G
of space for the system drive(drive C). The necessary softwares
can be installed on your C drive after installing the OS, such
as: Office softwares, decompression softwares(Winrar), browser,
audio video players... Don't worry about that, 50G of space is
enough to install these softwares and OS. And install the
softwares or files which are not very necessary to other drives,
example: You can only put the movies/music/photos files into
drive D:, only install the games into drive E:, and put the
other softwares into drive F:, you can arrange the drives
according to your own situation. Keep in mind that do not
install the softwares if you needn't. Keep your system simple.
- 3. Keep your drivers up
to date: You may ask: "Where to download the drivers?" Sometimes
you can update the drivers which are from major manufacturers by
the Microsoft's automatic update, you can choose whether to
install them. You can also use some of the driver update
software to detect and update your computer drivers, such as
driver detective which can better detect what drivers your
computer needs to be updated. Keep the latest drivers can ensure
optimal performance. Example: update
video card drivers can effectively improve the game
performance. Especially for windows 7, the driver update will be
very frequent required. You'd better update them regularly.
- 4. Uninstall the
programs the right way: This is a good habit. You can uninstall
the applications with their own "uninstall.exe" files; Or steps:
> start > control panel >add or remove programs > select which
one you want to uninstall > double-click it and wait for it to
complete.
- 5. Clean up garbage on
the system: There will be a lot of junk files after you
install/uninstall the softwares, browse websites... You can
remove the junk files with the
CCleaner tool and clean up registry with the
registry mechanic tool. Do not forget to clean your computer
regularly with the two softwares.
- 6. Use the "hibernate"
or "sleep" if you come back later: Because the superfetch has to
preload your most-often used applications in the boot. If you
need something to do and go out, but you want to use your pc
immediately after coming back, we suggest you do not shut down
your pc and choose one of them, the superfetch pre-loaded
applications will be retained, and the speed will be ok after
you reusing it.
- Others:
Readyboost: This is not too popular by now. Because most of
us have the memory more than 2GB. If your memory is from 512MB
to 1GB, you can open it using this steps: > insert the USB flash
memory > right-click it > click on "Properties" > click the
"ready boost" > choose how many MB you need then click "ok".
Disk Defragmenter: You can enable defragmentation schedule, my
schedule is running once a week. Steps: > Start > All Programs >
Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter.
Only one good anti-virus software: This is to prevent system
conflicts. Such as: avira, east nod32...
Reduce startup programs: You can search lots of pages about
this, we will not repeat them here.
That the ways we can think how to
increase windows 7 speed and performance, if you have other better
ways please
email us. Based on the certain hardwares, you'd better keep your
system drive space bigger, and please remember to clean up your
computer regularly :)
